AI plugin for developers — local, encrypted, remembers all
Breadcrumb is a local, encrypted AI plugin for developers on macOS that sits between you and your AI tools (Claude Code, ChatGPT, Cursor, opencode). It adds persistent memory and control on top of any AI you use: folder-scoped rules that apply automatically, recall of what happened on your screen and in meetings, session continuation across chats, one-word shortcuts for repeated workflows, and daily activity stats. Everything runs on your Mac — transcription and organising are done with local models, history is encrypted at rest with your key, and nothing is sent to Innerloop.
A scope is a folder with specific rules that apply automatically when you work in it (e.g. 28 rules for /acme plus global ones). Correct your AI once and it offers to save the correction as a permanent rule every AI then follows.
Your AI remembers what happened on your screen and in meetings — e.g. recall obligations from a 09:32 standup, or diagnose a disk problem based on the same issue from last month.
Ask what you did yesterday and get a timeline of your day (hours at the Mac, meetings, projects, apps, web usage, longest uninterrupted streak, time talking with AI vs humans).
A new chat picks up where a long one got overwhelmed — list and resume prior AI sessions (with duration and turn counts) with all the context and none of the tokens.
Turn any workflow or repeated query into a shortcut (e.g. \fb-hours for a Friendbuy hours report) that works in all your AIs.
Transcription, speaker naming and day organisation run on local models on your Mac. History is encrypted at rest with a key kept in Keychain (never shared), recoverable via a 12-word BIP39 phrase. No voiceprints — speakers are named from what's on screen. Exclude apps, sites, words and phrases; inco

Install the macOS app and your AI tools (Claude Code, ChatGPT, Cursor, opencode) query Breadcrumb for context — rules, screen history, meeting notes, sessions. When your AI asks Breadcrumb something, the answer goes to that AI just like anything you type.

Breadcrumb is free for personal use — no account, email, credit card, subscription or telemetry. The company plans to make money later from teams. Optionally, you can back the project once for $299 to get a founding seat.
