Privacy Thing is a browser extension designed to reduce fingerprinting across the web. It puts users in control of the information websites can access by covering 53 browser properties, methods, and constructors that are commonly used for tracking. The extension is organized into 13 protection categories, addressing a wide range of fingerprinting techniques.
These categories include geolocation, time and locale settings, Canvas, WebGL, Audio, Navigator, Screen, Client Hints, Battery, WebRTC, and different types of web workers. This broad approach helps block attempts to uniquely identify users across different websites.
Privacy Thing is currently available as a preview version for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, and it is also listed on the Microsoft Edge Add-ons store. It is aimed at privacy-conscious users who want to reduce their online fingerprint and regain greater control over the data shared with sites.
