A tower builder run on democratic socialism
Skyline Co-op reimagines the classic SimTower formula under democratic socialism. Instead of maximizing profit as a landlord, you act as an elected steward, managing the treasury of a co-operative high-rise. Homes are allocated from a waitlist, and your score is based on resident confidence, not income. The game is free forever, built by Intergalactic Robots, and available for Mac.
Every quarter, residents meet to vote on major works, set mandates with deadlines, and can vote you out if confidence drops too low.
Your performance is measured by resident confidence, which rises when people are housed, have access to amenities, and can afford to stay. Hover the bar to see what the assembly dislikes most.
Homes are assigned from a waitlist, not sold. Dues are set per room in three bands: Reduced (houses more people but brings in less), Full share (fills the treasury but prices people out).
Drag floors to build; workspaces pay a share of their surplus. Canteens, cafés, stores, and the cinema run near cost—they earn little but boost confidence.
Drag elevators vertically. Express elevators stop at lobbies, basements, and every 5th floor. Service elevators carry staff only. Stairs and escalators handle short hops and relieve queues.
A two-floor concourse that every elevator stops at, turning a long climb into two shorter ones.
Fires spread until the Safety Team contains them. Hoarding the treasury prompts the assembly to vote it out to schools, libraries, or sister co-ops.
A building that houses people well enough and high enough attracts a public science grant. Crown it with the Observatory to bring in astronomers.
Yes, the game is free forever. The page encourages donations to the cause.
It is available for Mac, specifically Apple silicon, and is signed and notarized.
The assembly will vote the surplus out—to the school, library, or a sister co-op—and thank you for it.
Confidence, not profit, is the score. It rises when people are housed, can get around, see a doctor, have gathering spaces, and can afford to stay.
Yes, the building saves itself as you go. You can rename it any time from the Load Saved Co-op screen.
