The most realistic virtual guitar you can play online
Guitoro is a free, browser-based virtual guitar that lets you strum recorded samples of real instruments using a computer keyboard, touch screen, or mouse. Beyond just playing, it teaches songs note-for-note: each of the 51 included songs plays its best-known part close to the original recording and can be slowed down to 20% speed, with every string lighting up as it's hit and finger positions shown on the neck. You can lead a song's chords yourself from the keyboard, play along on your own guitar, or loop your own chord progressions with a backing band.
Steel-string acoustic (Warm, Bright, Mellow pick recordings), classic nylon-string guitar (Natural, Concert), solid-body electric on its bridge pickup (Clean to Crunch, Classic Rock, Metal, Lead, Ambient presets), and a four-string bass — all sampled, not synthesized.
Each string sounds as your finger, mouse, or key crosses it: fast swipes play louder, slow drags roll the notes one by one, and you can strum down or up with H and J on the keyboard.
Choose any of 24 major and minor keys and the keys fill with fitting chords (main chords, sevenths, sus, add9 colors); you can assign any chord you type, like F#m7 or Dsus2, to a key. The neck shows finger numbers, barres, muted strings, and the capo.
Songs like Wonderwall, Hotel California, Hallelujah, Let It Be, and Canon in D come pre-set with key, capo, tempo, and strum. Strings light up as they're hit, the pick animation shows down/up strokes (solid swings hit, faint ones miss), and speed adjusts from 20% to full.
With no guitar, play the song's chords on the keys and the song holds until you hit the next one (shown lit green). With 'My guitar' mode, the song box shows the strum pattern and chord strip so you can play along on your own instrument.
14 everyday strums, 4 styles (reggae, funk, country), 26 song-derived rhythms, and 12 picking patterns like Travis and classical p-i-m-a — plus 15 drum styles and 25 bass lines that follow your chords, at 10–220 BPM with a metronome.
Solo mode turns keyboard rows into strings for melodies with bends, vibrato, hammer-ons, and pull-offs; the electric gets overdrive/distortion/fuzz, EQ, reverb, and delay; 10 tunings, a capo up to fret 10, left-handed mode, 10-minute recordings exportable as WAV, and a microphone-based online tuner.
Play with the computer keyboard (left hand on chord keys A–G/Q–T/Z–B, right hand strumming with H/J and picking with Y/U/I/O/P), by touch on phone or tablet (chord pads plus finger swipes across strings, up to five fingers, tappable frets), by mouse (drag across strings), or in Solo mode where keybo
Pick a song, slow it down to as low as 20%, and watch the strings, pick motion, and finger positions on the neck. Then either lead the song's chords yourself (the song waits at each chord change) or copy the shape onto your own guitar and play along as you raise the speed.
Paste chords from a chord site or ChordPro text under My songs (lyrics stripped, repeats like 'x2' supported) and loop them with the backing band. Record takes up to 10 minutes with the band and export as WAV or a compressed file. Everything runs in the browser with nothing to download.
